With dealers telling new car buyers to not change the oil in the vehicle until 7,500 miles or 10,000 miles or 15% life left, oil changes are becoming a lot less frequent. Cars today are more efficient and don’t require service as often as they used to. But the reality is that your engine’s oil still needs checked. If you do not plan on changing your oil at 3,000 miles, at least inspect the oil level at that point. Driving around town without the engine being full on oil causes excessive wear inside the engine and what oil is in the engine will begin to sludge. We recommend using our Valvoline full synthetic oil which comes with a 5,000 mile oil change interval. Even this oil still needs checked every 3,000 miles to make sure your engine is not low. Since service intervals are now so far apart, we strongly recommend having the vehicle safety checked each time you come in for a routine oil change.
